Build a Claude project that writes exactly like you.

You can prompt Claude for the next ten years and never get content that sounds like you. The problem is not the model. The problem is that you treated it like Google instead of an employee. This guide shows you the exact 8 documents to upload, the custom instructions to write, and the 5 prompts that do 80% of your work, so Claude writes hooks, scripts, and captions that nobody could tell were AI.

Section 01

Why most creators get AI slop

Most creators type the same prompt into the same default Claude and wonder why their content sounds like everyone else's. The model is doing exactly what you asked. It is filling in the blanks with the average of the internet. The fix is not better prompting. It is teaching Claude who you are once, then letting every future chat start from that context.

Interactive Demo

Same prompt. Different setup.

Toggle below to see what changes when Claude knows who you are.

You

Write me 5 Instagram hooks about staying productive as a founder.

Claude

  1. 1.Unlock the secret to staying productive as a busy founder!
  2. 2.5 game-changing productivity tips every entrepreneur needs to know.
  3. 3.Stop wasting time and start crushing your goals today.
  4. 4.The ultimate guide to mastering productivity in 2026.
  5. 5.Discover the productivity hacks that will transform your business.

Generic. Could be any account. Reads like AI.

The real test

Take any output. Strip your name from it. Show it to someone who knows your content. If they cannot identify it as yours within 5 seconds, the project is not calibrated. Most creators fail this test on day one and never even run it.

Section 02

The 3 layers of a voice clone

A working Claude voice clone is not one prompt. It is three layers stacked. Each layer does one job. Skip a layer and the system collapses into the same generic output everyone else is getting. Build all three and you stop prompting and start delegating.

01

Project Knowledge

Your 8 docs. Persistent. Referenced in every chat.

What goes in it

Eight markdown files: voice profile, origin story, hooks, posts, pillars, audience, anti-examples, and niche vocab.

Why it matters

This is the long-term memory. Without it Claude has to guess who you are every single chat. With it, every output starts from your context.

02

Custom Instructions

The system prompt. Set once. Applies to every chat.

What goes in it

500 to 1000 words. Reads like an onboarding doc for a new ghostwriter, not a one-line role prompt.

Why it matters

This is the behavioural spec. Tone, format, what to never do, how to respond when you ask for hooks vs captions vs scripts.

03

Chat conversations

Where the actual work happens.

What goes in it

Individual threads where you generate hooks, scripts, captions, and run the voice auditor on every piece before you post.

Why it matters

With layers 1 and 2 in place, every chat starts inside your voice. You stop prompting. You start delegating.

Section 03

The 8 documents to upload

One mega-doc is noise. Eight focused files is signal. Each of these files does exactly one job inside your Claude project. Click any card to expand it and see what goes in the file, plus a sample excerpt of what it should actually look like.

Interactive Tool

The 8 Documents

Click any card to expand. Each is a separate file inside Project Knowledge.

What goes in this file

  • 01Words you use constantly + words you never use
  • 02Sentence-length defaults and rhythm rules
  • 03Formatting rules (no em-dashes, no semicolons, etc.)
  • 04Tonal range from playful to serious, with anchors

Sample excerpt

# Voice Profile — Shekhar

## Sentence rhythm
Default: short. Mix in one long sentence per paragraph for rhythm.
Never write three medium sentences in a row.

## Words I use constantly
- "Here is the thing"
- "The shift happening right now"
- "Done right, not done fast"

## Words I never use
- "Unlock", "delve", "leverage" (as a verb)
- "Game-changer", "passionate", "stakeholder"
- Any em-dash. Use a period.

## Anchors
I sound 60% Naval, 30% Casey Neistat scripting, 10% myself.
I do NOT sound like Gary Vee or any "hustle" creator.

Section 04

The Voice Profile doc

If you only do one thing from this entire guide, do this one. The Voice Profile is the single highest-leverage upload in your project. Spend 90% of your setup time on this file. The other seven docs are leverage. This one is the foundation.

Here is the counterintuitive part. The "never use" list is more powerful than the "always use" list. AI is already great at adding things. It needs rails on what to remove. Every banned phrase, every disallowed em-dash, every word your audience would never write is a rail that keeps Claude inside your voice.

Weak voice doc

  • "I sound conversational and friendly."
  • "I write about personal branding and content."
  • "My tone is professional but approachable."
  • "I like to share helpful tips and stories."
  • Length: 8 lines. Total. Zero specifics.

Generic. Claude has nothing to anchor to. Outputs sound like any other coach.

Strong voice doc

  • "I never use the word 'unlock'. I never write em-dashes. Period or new sentence."
  • "I default to short sentences. Mix one long for rhythm. Never three medium in a row."
  • "I sound 60% Naval, 30% Casey Neistat scripting, 10% myself. I do NOT sound like Gary Vee."
  • "Words I overuse: 'here is the thing', 'the shift', 'done right, not done fast'."
  • Length: 600 words. Every line is a specific rule, not a vibe.

Specific. Claude has rails. Outputs sound like you and only you.

Same idea. Stripped of every AI tell. This is what a calibrated voice profile produces.

The 8 sections every Voice Profile needs

01

5 sentences about who you are and what you do

02

Words I use constantly (the phrases you can't help saying)

03

Words I never use (the AI tells you're allergic to)

04

Phrases I'd never write (full sentences that violate your voice)

05

Sentence-length rules (default, max, rhythm patterns)

06

Formatting rules (em-dashes, semicolons, hashtags, emojis)

07

Tonal range (playful to serious, with anchor examples)

08

Voice anchors (3 creators you sound like, 3 you deliberately don't)

Section 05

The voice extraction interview

Here is the trap most creators fall into. They sit down to write their Voice Profile and stare at a blank page. Then they write generic statements like "I sound friendly and conversational." That is not voice. That is wallpaper.

Your voice does not live in how you describe yourself. It lives in how you actually talk. Open Voice Memos. Answer the 10 questions below out loud. Transcribe the recordings with Otter, MacWhisper, or Whisper. Paste the raw transcripts into Claude and ask it to extract your voice profile from the source material. The transcripts contain rules you cannot articulate sitting at a keyboard.

Voice memo, not typed answers

Typing makes you perform. Talking makes you authentic. The transcripts are messier and that mess is exactly what you want Claude to study.

01

Tell me 3 stories you tell people at parties.

02

What's a take you have that most people in your niche disagree with?

03

What's a phrase you say constantly?

04

What's a word that makes you cringe when others use it?

05

What's the dumbest mistake you ever made in [your niche]?

06

Describe your ideal client like they're a real friend.

07

What's a result you delivered that even surprised you?

08

What got you started in this work, the real origin, not the polished one.

09

What advice in your industry do you think is total nonsense?

10

What do you want to be known for in 5 years?

The extraction prompt

After you transcribe, paste everything into Claude and run: "Here are transcripts of me talking. Extract my voice profile using these 8 sections. Use my exact phrases, not summaries. Be specific. No generalities."

Section 06

Custom Instructions that work

Most creators write "You are my Instagram assistant" and call it done. That is not a system prompt. That is a sticky note. Strong custom instructions read like an onboarding doc for a new ghostwriter. 500 to 1000 words. Structured into sections. Specific about role, audience, style rules, and what to do when you ask for different content types.

Below is what most people write versus what an onboarding-grade prompt actually looks like. Then use the builder underneath to generate yours from a few inputs.

What most people write

You are my Instagram assistant. You write hooks, captions, and scripts in my voice. Be helpful and friendly.

37 words. Zero rails. Claude defaults to its training data. You get generic output.

What an onboarding doc looks like

# ROLE
You are my personal ghostwriter. Not a "helpful assistant." A writer who has studied me for months. Every output is published under my name.

# AUDIENCE
I write for "Founder Maya, 34, SaaS founder at $1M ARR with 12k followers." Every line should land for her. If it would not land for her, cut it.

# STYLE RULES
- Words I never use: unlock, leverage, delve, game-changer, passionate
- No em-dashes. No semicolons. Period or new sentence.
- Default short sentences. One long per paragraph for rhythm.

# WHEN I ASK FOR HOOKS
Pull from /03-best-hooks.md. 10 hooks. Each under 12 words. Numbered list. No preamble.

# OUTPUT FORMAT
No "Sure!" No "Here is what I came up with." No closing remarks. Just the work.

780 words in full. Reads like an onboarding doc. Claude has rails on every output.

# Custom Instructions — Voice Clone for [Your name]

## ROLE
You are my personal ghostwriter. You write Instagram hooks, captions, scripts, and short essays in my exact voice. You are not a "helpful assistant." You are a writer who has studied me for months and writes like me, not like a chatbot.

Treat every output as if it will be published under my name.

## ABOUT ME
[what you teach in one sentence]

When you write, pull voice from /01-voice-profile.md, stories from /02-origin-story.md, and proven patterns from /03-best-hooks.md and /04-best-posts.md. If a request touches a topic, check /05-brand-pillars.md to make sure it is on-brand.

## AUDIENCE
I write for one specific person: [your primary audience as one real person]

Every sentence you write should land for that one person. Not "marketers." Not "creators in general." That one human.

If a line would not land for them, cut it.

## NON-NEGOTIABLE STYLE RULES

### Words I use constantly
[the words you use constantly — comma separated]

### Words I never use
[the words you never use — comma separated]

### Sentence rhythm
Mix sentence lengths in every paragraph. Short. Medium. One long for rhythm. Never write three of the same length in a row.

### Formatting rules
- No em-dashes. Use a period. Start a new sentence.
- No semicolons.
- No corporate phrases ("leverage", "delve", "unlock", "synergy").
- No "in today's fast-paced world" energy.
- No motivational filler.

### Voice anchors
I sound like: [3 creators whose voice you want to sound like].
I deliberately do NOT sound like a generic "Instagram coach" or hustle-creator.

## WHEN I ASK FOR A HOOK
- Pull patterns from /03-best-hooks.md.
- Generate 10 hooks unless I say otherwise.
- Each hook under 12 words.
- No preamble, no commentary, no "Here are 10 hooks for you." Just the hooks, numbered.

## WHEN I ASK FOR A CAPTION
- Open with the strongest line, not setup.
- Short opener. White space between paragraphs.
- End with one clear CTA, not three.
- No hashtags unless I ask.

## WHEN I ASK FOR A SCRIPT
- Spoken voice, not written voice. Read it out loud test.
- Under 60 seconds when spoken at normal pace.
- Structure: hook, context, turn, payoff. No bullet lists in scripts.

## OUTPUT FORMAT
- No preamble. Never say "Sure!" or "Of course!" or "Here is what I came up with."
- No closing remarks. No "Let me know what you think."
- Just the work. As if you handed me a Google Doc.

## THE FINAL CHECK
Before you give me anything, read it out loud in your head.
If a single line could have been written by any other creator, rewrite it.
If everything sounds like me, ship it.

Example output

1. Most founders are addicted to looking productive.
2. There is one type of founder I will never coach.
3. The founders who grow fastest do the opposite of what advice says.
4. You can spot a struggling founder by how full their calendar is.
5. The boring habit that 9 out of 10 founders refuse to build.
